School Association
The School Association and what can you do?
The aim of the School Association is to organise both fund-raising and social events.
Every parent is automatically a member of the association and is welcome to attend or take part in the events. Parents and Teachers get the opportunity to put forward ideas on how the money should be spent.
Meetings
During October we have an AGM to review the previous year activities and plan the calendar for the next school year. After this, we have planning meetings for the events. We understand how busy lives can be, so we try not to have many meetings and are happy to delegate tasks to parents who are willing to help but cannot attend meetings.
Meetings tend to be a couple of hours long starting at 7pm.
Events
We have two main events a year, these are the Christmas and Summer fairs. They provide a great evening for children and parents while raising money for the school. Due to the size of these, they require a lot of planning and need more help from parents on the evening. We create a rota, where you can put your name down to do anything from an hour slot to run a stall, to helping at the whole thing. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to help.
In addition to the Fairs we run school discos, collect clothing for charity and have successfully run a quiz night which we will be continuing with. We also provide refreshments at various events during the school year.
If you have any ideas or would like to run an event, please do let us know.
Where do the funds go?
We spend the money raised on providing children with the extras they may need to enhance their school life. These have included in the past tickets for the pantomime in Cheltenham, stage lighting in the hall for productions, sports kit, and refurbishment of the library. This year we are putting money towards robust wet weather clothing for forest school and are currently raising funds towards refurbishing Copper Kingdom.
How can you help?
If you have a spare couple of hours each term why not come along to the committee meetings, we try to keep the meetings light and not to serious! Do not worry if you cannot attend every meeting, you will still receive the notes from all the meetings. By attending the meetings, this does not mean you will be expected to volunteer at all events, they give you the opportunity to chat with other parents and find out what is happening with the school.
If you think you would like to help, even if it is just run a stall at the fairs, please do contact us on schoolassociation@cameverlands.org.uk or leave a message at the school office.
Unfortunately we are risk of not being able to put on these events if we do not have enough willing hands!
We look forward to meeting you all!
