Play
Play at Cam Everlands
At Cam Everlands we believe that play is a vital part of a child's development. We are committed to providing our pupils with ample opportunities to engage in cooperative, imaginative, and communicative play throughout the school day.
The importance of play
We firmly believe that play encourages the development of essential life skills. Our pupils spend almost an hour and a half per day engaged in various play activities, both structured and unstructured. This allows them to explore their creativity, practise social interaction, improve their physical development and enhance their problem-solving abilities. Moreover, play has a vital role to play in supporting the mental wellbeing of the children.
Inclusive and engaging play experiences
One of the most important aspects of play at our school is the opportunity for children from all year groups to play together. This cross-age interaction fosters a sense of community and allows older pupils to take on leadership roles as 'Play Leaders'. These Year 5 pupils are responsible for organising games and activities, ensuring that as many children as possible are actively engaged.
Nurturing creativity and exploration
To further enrich the play experience, we encourage the use of "scrap" and loose parts, which stimulate creativity and imagination. These materials allow our pupils to explore, experiment, and develop their problem-solving skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Aligning with our vision and values
At Cam Everlands Primary School, our vision is to believe, achieve, and celebrate. This ethos is reflected in our approach to play, where we strive to create an environment that fosters respect, trust, honesty, and empathy among our pupils. By prioritising play, we are nurturing well-rounded individuals who are equipped to navigate the challenges of the future.
