PSHE

Introduction

At Cam Everlands Primary School, our PSHE curriculum is designed to equip our pupils with the essential life skills and understanding they need to navigate the challenges of the modern world. Aligned with our school's vision of "we believe, achieve and celebrate", this subject plays a crucial role in helping our pupils develop the confidence, resilience and sense of responsibility to become successful, well-rounded individuals.

Key Aims

Our PSHE curriculum aims to:

  • Promote the importance of emotional well-being and mental health
  • Empower pupils to make informed choices about their physical and mental health
  • Develop pupils' ability to build and maintain healthy relationships
  • Teach pupils how to keep themselves safe in a variety of contexts
  • Foster a sense of community, respect and empathy among our diverse pupil population
Content and Skills

Through our PSHE curriculum, pupils will develop a deep understanding of key topics such as:

  • Emotional literacy and self-regulation
  • Healthy lifestyles, including nutrition and physical activity
  • Relationships, including families, friendships and online interactions
  • Personal safety, including recognising and responding to risks

Pupils will also gain essential life skills, including effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Progression

Our PSHE curriculum is carefully sequenced to build upon pupils' prior knowledge and understanding as they progress through Key Stages 1 and 2. This ensures that pupils are able to apply their learning to increasingly complex situations, preparing them for the next stage of their education and beyond.

Wider Impact

By delivering a comprehensive PSHE curriculum, we aim to support our pupils in becoming confident, resilient and responsible citizens who are able to make a positive contribution to their community. This aligns with our school's vision and values, as well as our improvement priorities to close the attainment gap and improve pupils' overall well-being and attendance.
