PE
Introduction
At Cam Everlands Primary School, our PE curriculum is designed to inspire and equip our pupils with the skills they need to excel in competitive sports and activities that require high levels of physical competence and endurance. Aligned with our school vision of "we believe, achieve and celebrate", our PE curriculum aims to develop physically confident and capable learners who can understand and apply the principles of health and fitness.
Key Aims
Our PE curriculum has three key aims:
- To develop pupils' physical competence and confidence across a broad range of sports and activities.
- To foster a love of physical activity and an understanding of how to lead healthy, active lifestyles.
- To provide opportunities for pupils to participate in competitive sports, matches and tournaments.
Content and Skills
Through our carefully sequenced PE curriculum, pupils will develop a wide range of physical skills, including fundamental movement skills, sport-specific techniques, and the ability to apply tactics and strategies in competitive situations. Pupils will also gain knowledge about the importance of physical activity, healthy eating, and personal well-being.
Progression
As pupils progress through Key Stages 1 and 2, the PE curriculum will build upon their prior learning, allowing them to develop increasingly complex physical skills and deeper understanding of health and fitness. Opportunities for competitive sport will also increase, preparing pupils for participation in local and regional tournaments.
Wider Impact
Our PE curriculum is designed to have a positive impact on our pupils' overall development. By becoming physically confident and capable, our pupils will be better equipped to achieve their personal best, both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, the emphasis on health, fitness, and well-being will support our school's priorities of improving attendance and reducing persistent absence.
